What if damnation is the price of true love?
Innocent blood has been spilled on the steps of the Council Hall, the sacred stronghold of the Shadowhunters. In the wake of the tragic death of Livia Blackthorn, the Clave teeters on the brink of civil war. One fragment of the Blackthorn family flees to Los Angeles, seeking to discover the source of the blight that is destroying the race of warlocks.
Meanwhile, Julian and Emma take desperate measures to put their forbidden love aside and undertake a perilous mission to Faerie to retrieve the Black Volume of the Dead. What they find in the Courts is a secret that may tear the Shadow World asunder and open a dark path into a future they could never have imagined. Caught in a race against time, Emma and Julian must save the world of Shadowhunters before the deadly power of the parabatai curse destroys them and everyone they love.
I can’t believe yet another series set in the Shadowhunter world is over! This has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride and yet… I want more. I cried, I laughed, I very nearly broke my phone, I cursed countless people and then I cried yet again. I loved it and I’m prepared for Malec in 2019 (I’ll never be prepared but I need more Malec)! If you have not yet read this series…. please do! It’s even better if you’ve read TMI before this because there are major spoilers!
Something I loved about this book is we see more of a different aspect of Julian in this due to a certain something that happens on basically the first few chapters. It was heart breaking and it broke my heart in more ways than I thought possible! But at the same time I also loved the relationships that Helen builds with the siblings she has been separated from for so long!
I’m going to be a spoiler-y about the thing I didn’t like so be warned! Now… one thing I didn’t like was the cliffhanger! It was the end of a series and I was expecting a conclusive ending that was better than I would’ve thought but the cliffhanger!?! And what makes the cliffhanger worse is that I have to wait till 2022 until I get to read the continuation!! So many questions were left unanswered at the end of this book and it’s just building up the angst for The Wicked Powers! Yet at the same time, I will continue to try and heal myself with rereads and the many Shadowhunter books being released until 2022!
