Time for me to review Traitor to the Throne by Alwyn Hamilton!! The book is so amazing and I can’t wait to share my views with you in this blog post with mild spoilers!
First off, the book starts in a fantastic place, not directly after Rebel of the Sands but after the period so it gives you an idea of what Amani and the Rebels have been up to!
The best thing about this book is Amani’s thoughts and feelings! There is so much here that just brings this story to life! One of the best things, in my opinion, is most definitely how Alwyn manages to capture the hesitation and how Amani is questioning everything. There’s that doubt in her mind, which makes you realise, yes this is what books need, because no matter how much we love our protagonists, they’re not perfect and will always question whether they are on the right side. This is something we see coming fruition when Amani begins to doubt Ahmed’s ability to lead, whether he would make a good Sultan, and maybe, just maybe, Ahmed and Jin’s father isn’t so bad after all.
This book has manipulation, doubt, action, politics and so much more!! I would definitely read this again any given day as not only does it look at the protagonist’s inner turmoil, it also shows the reader that not everything is as it seems!
This book got a solid 5/5 stars from me, and hopefully I’ll review Hero at the Fall soon 🙂
